Exploration & targeting review · 01

48-hour independent target review

A rapid senior-level assessment of an exploration project before additional capital is committed—drawing on more than 30 years of experience in structural geology, mineral systems, geodynamics and exploration targeting.

Why a fresh review

In many exploration projects, significant value can remain unrealised simply because historical datasets, structural interpretations, geochemistry, geophysics and drilling have been assessed independently or within an established exploration model that has evolved over time.

A fresh review can identify alternative interpretations, overlooked target positions or opportunities to better prioritise future expenditure. The review integrates the available geological, geochemical, geophysical and drilling information into a coherent targeting framework.

Why this service is needed

Proposed process

  1. 1. 1 hour

Project briefing and data transfer. A short introductory discussion identifies the principal exploration questions and objectives, followed by transfer of the available project datasets.

  2. 2. 48 Hours

Independent technical review. The assessment examines themes such as:

    • Geological and structural controls on mineralisation
    • Mineral-system architecture and potential fluid or magma pathways
    • Relationships between geology, geochemistry, geophysics and drilling
    • The validity and ranking of existing targets
    • Potential overlooked or alternative target concepts
    • Key gaps in the current exploration model or datasets
  3. Target prioritisation. Existing and newly identified opportunities are ranked according to geological prospectivity, supporting evidence, exploration maturity and the likely value of further investigation.

  4. Findings within approximately 48 hours. A concise assessment of the principal observations, priority targets and recommended next steps.

  5. 3. 2 hour review meeting

Online meeting to discuss findings and opportunities. General discussion about the geology and targeting.

Deliverables

A short written technical summary, annotated maps and figures, ranked target recommendations and a 2 hour discussion or presentation with the exploration team.

Possible outcomes

An assessment may corroborate existing results—a positive outcome. It may generate new results—also a positive outcome. Most often, the work generates active discussion and re-ignites thinking on new or different targets, which often leads to tangible positive outcomes. The objective is not to replace the existing technical team, but to provide an independent second opinion that improves the effectiveness of the next exploration dollar spent.
